THE MISSISSAUGA SKATEPARK PROJECT
HUH? SKATE PARK IN 'SAUGA?
YES, Mississauga's wonderful mayor Hazel McCallion has graciously set aside $300,000 for us skater's to get a skatepark built. That's good news. But it is not built yet, and only with unity and determination will we get this long overdue skatepark built. Myself, along with others in this city have been busy working with Joanne Uhlmann on the very early steps of the creation of this skate park. Joanne Uhlmann is the Recreation Co-ordinator in Sports, for the city of Mississauga and she is heading this project. This will be a public skatepark, outdoors most likely, and will definately have no admission cost.
HOW CAN I HELP?
There are a number of ways you can help with the creation of our very own skate park. I have put contact sheets which you can fill out, at some locations around Mississauga, such as; Full Tilt skate shop, located on Queen St. just south of Britannia, in Streetsville, the West 49 at Erin Mills Town Center, and the West 49 in Square One Shopping Mall. By filling one out, you will leave us your name, e-mail, and phone number so we will beable to contact you and get your input for the skatepark. We will also be holding a meeting in City Hall, about this, and all are alowd to be present. If you would like to help any further you can E-mail me at sayohyeah@hotmail.com,or you can E-mail Joanne at joanne.uhlmann@city.mississauga.on.ca.
DO YOU DESIGN SKATEPARKS?
We are still looking for a proffesional designer to design the skate park. We are looking for someone who is or was a skateboarder in the recent past and really knows the dynamics and physics of actually riding a skatepark. If you think you fit that description then contact me or Joanne.
REMEMBER, EVERYONE NEEDS TO COME TOGETHER ON THIS TO MAKE THIS SKATEPARK A REALITY!!
